Sciatica and sciatica nerve pain are a set of symptoms characterized by any combination of numbness, tingling, sharp, shootting and burning pain in the back, buttocks and into the leg – and in some cases all the way down to the toes.  Sciatica itself is not a diagnosis but merely a set of symptoms that arise from some other cause usually spinal in origin.

The most common musculoskeletal causes of sciatica are lumbar disc herniation, disc bulge, degenerative disc disease, farcet arthropothy and spinal stenosis.  In some cases piriformis syndrome can mimic the spinal origin of sciatic nerve pain and is often termed ‘pseudo-sciatica’ as a result of it’s presentation.

The following picture shows the different types of degenerative spine conditions that may lead to sciatica and sciatic nerve pain:

Sciatica may be resolved by addressing the root cause of the symptom.  A combination of DRX9000 spine decompression, neuromuscular & core conditioning with ATM2 and cold laser therapy for inflammation reduction using the irradia 904 super-pulsed laser.
