Back Pain NYC:

If you’ve ever suffered with back pain you know what I’m talking about. It’s like having a constant itch that you can’t scratch!

No position is ever really comfortable and sleeping can be a real problem. Most patients that come to me for help have tried the ‘wait and see’ approach, some have even resorted to over the counter pain meds for their back pain and most, if not all, have tried some combination of heat and ice.

If you’ve got simple back pain such as a strain/sprain or a pulled muscle this will most likely help. Twisting and turning will usually increase pain in these situations and ‘taking a load off’ by sitting or lying down usually helps also.

If your back pain is aggravated when you sit or by bending over, and in some cases bendind backwards, or worse – you’ve got a real pain in the butt – like numbness or tingling it’s probably best you seek professional help.

All these things usually indicate some type of spinal disc involvement and the burning, numbness and tingling often associated with this type of condition is known as sciatica. The pain in the leg or hamstring is a distant effect of the nerve being ‘pinched’ or inflamed.

There are many innovative technologies now available to treat this sort of thing non-surgically and non-invasively with great success.

If you’re back pain is similar to the latter I suggest you seek the advice of a licensed healthcare professional immediately.
